Adults with Braces | Kupiec Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
Adults with Braces | Kupiec Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
Adults with braces typically see better results from orthodontic treatment. Who says braces are just for kids? Crooked, crowded teeth can affect your self-confidence, as well as cause tooth decay, gum disease, tooth loss, and abnormal tooth wear. Without orthodontic treatment, these problems will only get worse.
In addition to serving children and teens, we also provide orthodontic services for adults. Now it’s possible to get the smile you’ve always wanted at any age! We offer multiple braces options to fit your individual needs, including traditional braces, ceramic braces, or Invisalign® clear aligners.
With Invisalign, we can use a series of computer-generated clear overlay templates, or aligners, to gradually move your teeth into their correct positions as subtly as possible.
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are also removable, so you can easily eat, drink, brush, and floss as needed. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. This system is available to teen and adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems.
Many adults with braces today report successful orthodontic treatment and a long-lasting, beautiful smile later in life. In fact, many say they wish they hadn’t waited so long to start! Contact us now to schedule an appointment and change your smile today.

Cleanings | Kupiec Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
Cleanings | Kupiec Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
Keeping up with your child’s routine exams and cleanings prevents tooth decay, gum disease, bad breath, and stained teeth. Our pediatric dentists will look at your child’s teeth and gums to check for these and other problems. They may also take digital or traditional x-rays to check beneath the surface of the teeth and gums.
A periodontal exam is also necessary to ensure the gums and bones are healthy. If your child has tooth decay or gum disease, our pediatric dentists will explain how to improve brushing and flossing habits. In some cases, they may recommend antibiotics or additional dental treatments.

Pediatric Dentistry
Are you looking for a pediatric dentistry office for your child? In addition to orthodontic treatment for children and adults, we also offer comprehensive pediatric dental care for children and teens.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child be seen by a dentist every six months of the eruption of the first tooth. In keeping with your child’s development stage, our pediatric dentist will provide information and guidance to help prevent cavities and give you the tools to prepare for your child’s dental needs.
Unlike a typical dentist, our pediatric dentists specialize in the unique needs of your child. From your initial consultation to bi-annual cleanings, our exceptional staff understands and truly loves working with kids and helping to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.
We encourage you to bring your child in around their first birthday to provide a solid dental foundation that lasts a lifetime.

Braces
Braces
Orthodontics is more popular than ever. This popularity is due to the overwhelming success of improved treatments and technology. New technology produces better results with fewer visits and shortened treatment times. In some cases, we can eliminate months of treatment time for individuals. One example of recent improvements is nickel-titanium-alloy archwires. These have replaced the traditional stainless steel wires used in braces. This new technology provides our patients with a temperature-sensitive wire that allows for continuous movement of the teeth over longer periods of time. For our patients, this means enhanced comfort, decreased treatment time and fewer trips to the orthodontist.
Cosmetic improvements are also on the forefront of advances in orthodontics. Popular choices of our patients are ceramic braces, a translucent material that camouflages the brackets on your teeth. Today, brackets are smaller, more comfortable and more durable than older-style braces. The smaller brackets bond directly to the teeth. If you are looking for orthodontic treatment without the “metal-mouth” appearance, you may want to consider clear ceramic braces.

Common Problems | Kupiec Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry
Common Problems | Kupiec Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry

Loose brackets or bands
Call our office immediately for advice if a bracket or wire is loosened. The bracket may need to be re-fitted. You may have a situation that requires cutting a wire or sliding a bracket off a wire at night or over the weekend. If you need to cut a wire in case of emergency, you may use fingernail clippers that have been washed and sterilized in alcohol. Please call our office the next business day, so that we may schedule an appointment for you. Please remember that three repairs are included in your treatment fee. After the third, we will charge for repairs.
Wire irritations
Sometimes discomfort caused by a wire on your braces can be resolved by moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab or eraser. If the wire will not move, try covering the end of it with a small piece of cotton or a small amount of wax. If the wire is painful, you can cut it with nail clippers or scissors that have been washed and sterilized in alcohol. If you cannot resolve the wire irritation, call our office for an appointment.
Lost separators
Most patients lose a separator during their treatment. Do not worry about losing a separator, but call our office to see if it needs to be replaced.
Discomfort with Orthodontic Treatment
During the first week, after your braces are in place and routine adjustments are complete, you will likely feel some pain, soreness, or discomfort. You may take acetaminophen or other non-aspirin pain relievers while you adjust to your new braces. A warm wash cloth or heating pad may reduce the soreness in your jaws.

How to Clean a Retainer - Kupiec Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry
How to Clean a Retainer - Kupiec Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry
How to Clean a Retainer
How to Clean a Retainer
Congratulations on completing your journey with braces! Now, it is important that you wear your retainer as directed by Dr. Kupiec so that your new smile stays straight and healthy.
However, we know that with wearing your retainer, comes the responsibility to clean it so that the bacteria from your mouth is removed. So, what is the best way to clean retainers? A clean retainer will help you want to wear it!
It is best to clean your retainers as soon as you remove them from your mouth so that you can remove any debris before it hardens. We recommend using mild soaps like hand soap or dish soap on a soft brush to brush the retainer like you would your teeth. You will only need a very small amount of soap and never boil your retainer.
If you start to notice white spots (calcium deposits) on your retainer, call us for help. We have solutions in office that can professionally clean your retainer.
Last, always keep your retainer in a case when it is not in your mouth and remember to bring your retainer to all appointments so Dr. Kupiec can check to make sure everything is fitting as it should.
